Dear Ram Family,
I hope that this letter finds you and your student athlete doing well and excited for the new school year. As many of you know we are still in the process of waiting for the completion of our turf field at Marshall High School. During these first few weeks we have made adjustments to the practice schedule and I appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter. The field not being completed will obviously impact our first few sub varsity games at Marshall HS.
On the Freshmen level, we were scheduled to have two games featuring our Maroon and White teams. I was informed that MacArthur will not be able to have two football teams. When I heard this news, I was disappointed and faced with a tough decision that I wanted to take the time to explain to you in this letter. With schedules being created early in the year and most teams around the area already having opponents to play this week, we were not able to find our White team (B Team) another opponent. That said, we have decided to have all of our freshman football players suit up for one game against MacArthur.
We will have approximately sixty-five student athletes that will be on the sideline for the game. It is very difficult in these circumstances to play every student athlete the amount of time that you or your student athlete would like. As a coaching staff it is our goal to play every student athlete in either the offensive, defensive or kicking phases of the game. In doing so, it will obviously diminish “playing time” for some of our student athletes. I ask that you are understanding to the circumstance of the situation and support our coaches’ decision.
The freshmen game this week will be played on Wednesday, August 28, @ 5:00 PM at Farris Stadium. With our field not being completed and given the opportunity to have the Freshmen play a game at Farris, I could not pass it up. It will be a great event for them and allow them to play on a Varsity football field. The JV will play at MacArthur on Friday, August 30 @ 5 PM. The following week, our JV will play Taft on Wednesday, September 4 @ 5:30 @ Farris. The Freshmen will play at Taft on Friday, September 6 @ 4:30/6 PM. We are in the process of solidifying our third week sub varsity game against Brandeis. When I have that confirmed, we will let you know.
Freshmen parents – if you are interested in providing a snack bag for the Freshmen teams before games please contact Melissa Coultress by email – email@example.com . She will be glad to let you know how the process works and what to get for the players.
I thank you in advance for your understanding to the circumstances surrounding our situation. We are here for your student athlete and strive to give him/her the best opportunity to be successful. We ask that you are supportive of their efforts and encourage him/her to continue to be Above the Line every day.
Go Rams Go!
