Marshall Blows Out Holmes on Senior Night Thanks to Big Second Inning
Six runs in the second inning led Marshall past Holmes 10-1 on Tuesday. Branden Quintana, Stephon Hodge, Matthew Klar, Nico Lopez, and Pablo Montante all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.
Marshall opened up scoring in the second inning. Quintana drove in one when he doubled.
Jacob Sanchez was credited with the victory for Marshall. He went two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero runs on one hit and walking one.
Ryan Kalka took the loss for Holmes. He went two innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out two and walking zero.
Mark Saiz started the game for Holmes. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing six runs on four hits. John Sauceda started the game for Marshall. He lasted six and a third innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out nine.
Marshall had 14 hits in the game. Quintana, Sauceda, Lopez, Klar, and Hodge each collected multiple hits for Marshall. Quintana led Marshall with three hits in five at bats. Marshall didn’t commit a single error in the field. Lopez had the most chances in the field with nine.
David Morgan went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Holmes in hits.
