Marshall got on the board in the second inning. Marshall scored one run when Jacob Sanchez tripled.
Marshall scored three runs in the third inning. Nico Lopez, Branden Quintana, and Sanchez all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
John Sauceda led the Marshall to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He surrendered two runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out 13.
Puentes took the loss for Taft. He went six and a third innings, allowing six runs on 13 hits, striking out two and walking one.
Marshall tallied 16 hits in the game. Matthew Klar, Quintana, Sanchez, Lopez, Stephon Hodge, and Parker Gray each managed multiple hits for Marshall. Klar went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Marshall in hits.
