Brandeis Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory
Marshall watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-3 loss to Brandeis on Tuesday. Brandeis scored on a double by Cardenas and a double by Cardenas in the second inning.
The Marshall struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Brandeis, giving up 11 runs.
Brandeis pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Cardenas doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run and Cardenas doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Brandeis scored three runs in the sixth inning. Brandeis’s big inning was driven by doubles by Montejano and Cardenas.
Lemasters was credited with the victory for Brandeis. He went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out two.
Cristian Aguilar took the loss for Marshall. He surrendered zero runs on three hits over one inning, walking zero.
John Sauceda started the game for Marshall. He surrendered eight runs on eight hits over four innings, striking out three. Fontenot started the game for Brandeis. He went five innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out five.
Matthew Klar, Nico Lopez, Stephon Hodge, and Branden Quintana each collected one hit to lead Marshall.
Brandeis tallied 12 hits on the day. Cardenas, Cardenas, Fontenot, and Benavidez each managed multiple hits for Brandeis. Cardenas led Brandeis with three hits in four at bats. Brandeis was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Vooletich had the most chances in the field with seven.
