Marshall couldn’t keep up with Stevens and fell 9-1 on Friday.
Marshall got on the board in the second inning.
Stevens pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Bernal hit a solo homer, Marin singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, and Barrera laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.
Stevens scored three runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Stevens came thanks to a single by Arriola and an error on a ball put in play by Lopez.
Arriola earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Stevens. He lasted seven innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out six and walking one.
Branden Quintana took the loss for Marshall. He went five innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and walking one.
Stephon Hodge, Matthew Klar, and Quintana each managed one hit to lead Marshall.
Stevens was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Bonillas had the most chances in the field with six.
