Marshall took the lead late and defeated Holy Cross 7-6 on Saturday. The game was tied at six with Marshall batting in the top of the seventh when an error scored one run for Marshall.
There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Marshall collected 11 hits and Holy Cross had ten.
Marshall got things moving in the first inning, when Chris Tobias singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Holy Cross scored three runs in the sixth inning. Tobaz and Garcia all drove in runs in the frame.
Matt Zepeda took the win for Marshall. He lasted seven innings, allowing ten hits and six runs while striking out two.
Garcia took the loss for Holy Cross. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on two hits and striking out two.
Ariel Barrfiu started the game for Holy Cross. He surrendered three runs on seven hits over five and a third innings, striking out one and walking one
Marshall totaled 11 hits. Tobias, Zane Zuniga, Zepeda, and Parker Gray each had multiple hits for Marshall. Gray, Zepeda, Zuniga, and Tobias each collected two hits to lead Marshall. Tobias led Marshall with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases.
Holy Cross scattered ten hits in the game. Ethan Lara and Martin Mason all collected multiple hits for Holy Cross. Lara went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Holy Cross in hits.
