Marshall stole the lead late and defeated Jay 3-2 on Tuesday. The game was tied at two with Marshall batting in the bottom of the sixth when Ben Klar grounded out, scoring one run.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Matt Zepeda struck out two, while Jay pitchers sat down three.
Marshall opened up scoring in the first inning. Parker Gray doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Zepeda earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Marshall. He lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and two runs while striking out two.
Raiden Salas took the loss for Jay. He surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two-thirds of an inning, striking out one and walking one.
Paul Noriega started the game for Jay. He allowed one hit and two runs over five and a third innings, striking out two
Gray led Marshall with one hit in two at bats.
Salas went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Jay in hits. Jay was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Santiago Diaz made the most plays with four.
